Cookie Policy. One necessary, one optional.

Last updated · March 25, 2026

This page explains which storage entries swipephotos.com sets, why, and how long they stick around. The iPhone and Mac apps do not use cookies — this policy only covers the website.

1. What are cookies and local storage?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Local storage (also called “Web Storage”) is a similar browser mechanism that allows websites to store data locally. Both fall under the same rules in Section 25 TDDDG and the GDPR.

2. What we store right now

_ga_<container-id>CookieGoogle Analytics 4 — persists session state for the specific GA4 property.2 yearsThird-party (Google Ireland Ltd.)Analytics (consent required)

The consent entry is written the moment you make a choice in the banner. Analytics cookies are only written after you click “Accept all”.

3. Legal basis

The cookie-consent entry is strictly necessary under Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG, with GDPR basis Art. 6(1)(f) (legitimate interest in honouring your choice). Analytics cookies require explicit consent under Section 25(1) TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw consent at any time (see Section 5 below).

4. What we do not use

  • No advertising or marketing cookies
  • No cross-site tracking pixels
  • No fingerprinting techniques
  • No third-party cookies beyond Google Analytics (and only with your consent)

5. How to change or withdraw your choice

You can clear stored cookies and local storage at any time, which will also reset the consent banner on your next visit:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear Browsing Data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data

Blocking storage entirely still lets the site work; the banner will simply reappear on every visit.

6. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 from Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. IP anonymisation is enabled and we have a data-processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR. Transfers to Google LLC in the United States are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision (C(2023) 4745). You can install Google's opt-out browser add-on for a device-wide opt-out.
