Cookie Policy. Small files, specific jobs.
This page explains which storage entries swipephotos.com sets, why, and how long they stick around. The iPhone and Mac apps do not use cookies — this policy only covers the website.
1. What are cookies and local storage?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Local storage (also called “Web Storage”) is a similar browser mechanism that allows websites to store data locally. Both fall under the same rules in Section 25 TDDDG and the GDPR.
2. What we store right now
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Party | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
cookie-consent | Cookie + localStorage | Remembers whether you accepted, rejected, or configured optional storage so the site honours your choice across pages and visits. | Until you clear it | First-party | Strictly necessary |
cookie-preferences | Cookie + localStorage | Remembers your individual choices for analytics, advertising measurement, and affiliate attribution. | Until you clear it | First-party | Strictly necessary |
NEXT_LOCALE | Cookie | Remembers the website language and prevents repeated locale redirects. | Session | First-party | Strictly necessary |
sp_pricing | Cookie | Keeps the price sheet consistent between pages and carries the same randomly assigned A/B/C offer into the app. It contains a variant key and random UUID, not your name or contact details. | 90 days | First-party | Strictly necessary for consistent pricing |
sp_aff | Cookie | Remembers the approved creator link that brought you to SwipePhotos so an eligible purchase can be attributed. It contains a partner code and random click ID, not your name. | 60 days | First-party | Affiliate attribution (consent required) |
sp_gads | Cookie | Stores a random UUID that links a consented Google Ads click to the App Store visit. The Google click identifier itself remains on our server. | 90 days | First-party | Advertising measurement (consent required) |
swipephotos-google-ads-attribution | localStorage | Remembers the random UUID, Google click identifier, campaign token, and attribution time so a later App Store click uses the same consented attribution. | 90 days | First-party | Advertising measurement (consent required) |
sp_aff_session | HttpOnly cookie | Keeps an approved creator or the program owner signed in to the restricted partner dashboard after one-time email authentication. | 30 days | First-party | Strictly necessary for signed-in users |
swipephotos-app-banner-dismissed | localStorage | Remembers that you closed the optional app download banner. | Until you clear it | First-party | Strictly necessary preference |
pricing-experiment-exposed:<random-id> | localStorage | Prevents the same optional Google Analytics pricing-exposure event from being counted repeatedly. | Until you clear it | First-party | Analytics (consent required) |
_ga | Cookie | Google Analytics — distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated identifier. | 2 years | Third-party (Google Ireland Ltd.) | Analytics (consent required) |
_ga_<container-id> | Cookie | Google Analytics 4 — persists session state for the specific GA4 property. | 2 years | Third-party (Google Ireland Ltd.) | Analytics (consent required) |
_gcl_aw / _gcl_au | Cookie | Google tag entries used to measure which consented advertising click led to a site or app-store action. | Up to 90 days | Third-party (Google Ireland Ltd.) | Advertising measurement (consent required) |
The consent entry and the functional pricing assignment are written without analytics consent because they keep your choice and quoted price consistent. Analytics, affiliate-attribution, and advertising-measurement storage are only written when you enable the corresponding category or click “Accept all”.
3. Legal basis
The cookie-consent, cookie-preferences, andsp_pricing entries are strictly necessary under Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG, with GDPR basis Art. 6(1)(f) (legitimate interest in honouring your choice and keeping the price shown before download consistent in the app). Analytics, affiliate-attribution, and advertising-measurement storage require explicit consent under Section 25(1) TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw consent at any time (see Section 5 below).
4. What we do not use
- No cross-site behavioral advertising profiles
- No third-party affiliate cookie;
sp_affis first-party - No hidden affiliate links or automatic cookie stuffing
- No fingerprinting techniques
- No third-party cookies beyond Google measurement tags (and only with your consent)
5. How to change or withdraw your choice
You can clear stored cookies and local storage at any time, which will also reset the consent banner on your next visit:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear Browsing Data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data
Blocking optional storage still lets the site work. A deliberate affiliate click can still be carried into the immediate App Store visit through the link itself, but it will not be remembered for a later website visit unless you consent.
6. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 from Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. IP anonymisation is enabled and we have a data-processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR. Transfers to Google LLC in the United States are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision (C(2023) 4745). You can install Google's opt-out browser add-on for a device-wide opt-out.
