informational

Delete duplicate photos on iPhone. The slow part is over.

Apple's built-in Duplicates album only catches photos that are byte-for-byte identical. That misses the bursts, the "3-second-later" shots, and the almost-the-same-angle frames eating most of your storage.

162.2k+ people search for this every month. SwipePhotos is built specifically for what they’re trying to do.

The fix

What SwipePhotos does differently.

SwipePhotos uses on-device ML to find visually-similar photos — not just byte-identical ones. Smart Stack groups them, you tap the keepers, the rest goes to Recently Deleted.

Try free — first 10 photos€2.99/mo or €19.99/year. One subscription covers iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Questions about this

Good — here are the real answers.

Does the iPhone have a built-in duplicate photo remover?

Yes — iOS 16 added a Duplicates album under Photos > Albums > Utilities. It only flags photos that are byte-for-byte identical, though, which misses bursts, near-duplicates, and almost-the-same-angle shots. SwipePhotos catches all of those using on-device similarity matching.

Will deleting duplicates from iPhone also remove them from iCloud?

Yes — Apple Photos and iCloud Photos are a single library. Anything you delete on iPhone is moved to the Recently Deleted album, which syncs across all your devices. After 30 days it's permanently removed and your iCloud storage drops accordingly.

Is it safe to use a third-party duplicate photo cleaner?

Only if it processes photos on-device. Apps that upload your library to a server raise real privacy and bandwidth concerns. SwipePhotos runs every comparison locally — your photos never touch our servers. Deletions go to Apple's Recently Deleted, so anything you remove can be restored for 30 days.
